Thursday, April 16:
We are extremely saddened to share that we learned yesterday evening that a 78-year-old male Sun Parlor Home resident who has passed away had tested positive for COVID-19. The resident had recently been to the hospital and, out of an abundance of caution, he was being cared for while in isolation. Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones and our staff who cared for him. We are all mourning this tragic loss. The home has now been declared ‘in outbreak.’
We at the Sun Parlor Home are doing everything we can to battle this vicious health crisis. We have been closely monitoring all residents and will continue to do so. The safety and well-being of our residents and staff is our highest priority. We have long implemented aggressive and proactive actions and protocols including staff screening measures, the use of personal protective equipment and the cancellation of group activities and isolation of residents in order to limit potential exposure.
Every enhanced protective measure we continue to take is significant in trying to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 in our home. We are working with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit and local health officials to continue to increase and expand our testing capabilities for residents and staff in order to remain as vigilant as possible in our efforts to combat the threat of COVID-19.
The Sun Parlor Home is committed to sharing information with families, staff and our public as it becomes available.
