Friday, May 1:

Today, we have been informed by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit that one of our staff members at the Sun Parlor Home has tested positive for COVID-19. This staff member is currently recovering at home. As of Monday at 8 a.m., all of our residents have been tested for COVID-19 and all of the results have since come back negative.

The safety and well being of our residents and staff remain our number one priority. We continue to work with our local and regional health officials and we remain steadfast in our resolve to protect both our residents and our team members from the impact of COVID-19. As always, we are working under strict protocols and enhanced proactive measures to do all we can to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our home.

Wednesday, April 29:

Today, we have been informed by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit that one of our staff members at the Sun Parlor Home has tested positive for COVID-19. This staff member is currently recovering at home. As of Monday at 8 a.m., all of our residents have been tested for COVID-19 and all of the results have since come back negative.

Since the beginning of this pandemic, we have been practicing enhanced proactive and preventative measures to protect the safety and well being of our residents and staff. These measures include regularly monitoring residents for signs and symptoms of illness, the use of proper personal protection equipment, increased cleaning and disinfection protocols, increased screening and testing of staff as well as practicing physical distancing measures within the home for residents.

We will continue to work with our local and regional health officials to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 in our home.

Essex County Civic Centre:

Please note that the Essex County Civic Centre is currently closed to the public. County of Essex services continue to be delivered.

Council Meetings:

Essex County Council is currently holding its regular meetings remotely in response to COVID-19. The meetings are livestreamed and are also broadcast live on Your TV.

Anyone wishing to participate in the meeting should send their request and comments to the Clerk’s Office, following timelines set out in the Delegation Policy. No in-person delegations are permitted while the COVID-19 emergency continues.

The Province passed in March the Municipal Emergency Act, which allows municipalities to conduct electronic Council, Board and Committee meetings during a declared emergency. The County of Essex declared a State of Emergency on March 22, 2020.

Essex County Council meetings are usually held on the first and third Wednesday of every month beginning at 7 p.m.

Thursday, April 16:

We are extremely saddened to share that we learned yesterday evening that a 78-year-old male Sun Parlor Home resident who has passed away had tested positive for COVID-19. The resident had recently been to the hospital and, out of an abundance of caution, he was being cared for while in isolation. Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones and our staff who cared for him. We are all mourning this tragic loss. The home has now been declared ‘in outbreak.’

We at the Sun Parlor Home are doing everything we can to battle this vicious health crisis. We have been closely monitoring all residents and will continue to do so. The safety and well-being of our residents and staff is our highest priority. We have long implemented aggressive and proactive actions and protocols including staff screening measures, the use of personal protective equipment and the cancellation of group activities and isolation of residents in order to limit potential exposure.

Every enhanced protective measure we continue to take is significant in trying to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 in our home. We are working with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit and local health officials to continue to increase and expand our testing capabilities for residents and staff in order to remain as vigilant as possible in our efforts to combat the threat of COVID-19.

The Sun Parlor Home is committed to sharing information with families, staff and our public as it becomes available.
