Major League Sports and Entertainment
Windsor and Essex County residents live just a few minutes away from a resurgent Detroit and everything it has to offer, from world class art galleries and museums to professional sports teams.
All the big-time musical acts roll through historic Motown, which is accessible by the Ambassador Bridge and a tunnel under the Detroit River connecting downtown Detroit to downtown Windsor. Revelers can even take a Transit Windsor bus to and from events in Detroit.
There was a buzz in the air this Autumn whenever the Detroit Lions took the field and it's common to see Windsor and Essex County residents adorned in Honolulu Blue on NFL TV broadcasts or the Jumbotron at Ford Field.
When football is not in season, locals are known to head across the river to catch the Detroit Pistons or the Detroit Red Wings, especially when the Toronto Maple Leafs roll into town. A luxury of living in Windsor-Essex is that its considerably less expensive to watch the Leafs play in Detroit than in Toronto.

Recreational Opportunities
The commutes are short in Essex-Windsor and the summers are long. A multitude of recreational opportunities await you just a few minutes away from home or workplace.
We are bounded on three sides by water -- Lake Erie to the south, the Detroit River to the west and Lake St. Clair to north. We have unrivalled opportunities for boating, fishing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. A drive along our historic coast offers one breathtaking water view after another. Our sunsets are spectacular.
We have a mix of private and public golf courses catering to all skill levels that take tee times for at least eight months of the year. And we have some of the best cycling in all of Canada, with flat terrain and an ever-expanding network of trails meandering past fertile farm fields, historic site, conservation areas and breweries and wineries.
We are Ontario's west cost and its down south. We offer some of the best birding and butterfly viewing spots in the country, including Point Pelee, a national park and the southernmost point of mainland Canada.
Employment and Education
Windsor-Essex is a region on the rise and our robust economic prospects have caught the attention of Canada's national newspaper. Tens of thousands of jobs are going to created over the next few years with the construction of a multi-billion dollar battery plant, a new international border crossing a new state-of-the art regional hospital.
