2022 Municipal Elections

The Ontario Municipal Election was held on Oct. 24, 2022.  Municipal elections are held every four years and Essex County council is comprised of the mayors and deputy mayors elected in each of the seven local municipalities.

The municipalities in Essex County each run their own elections. Eligible voters in each municipality elect school board trustees, councillors, and a mayor and deputy mayor.

The mayors and deputy mayors serve a four-year term on Essex County council and elect the positions of warden and deputy warden.

The previous election was held on Oct. 22, 2018. The term of office runs from Dec. 1, 2018 to Nov. 14, 2022.
