Construction and Road Closures Update – March 6, 2026

Two long-term 2026 construction projects underway

Construction and road closure updates for the County of Essex, March 6, 2026:

The first culvert replacement project of 2026 for the County of Essex began this past Monday, March 2, in the Town of Essex, along the Southern Shore. Construction at the Lonsberry Drain Culvert on County Road 50 is underway, and will continue for a duration of approximately 12 weeks. The closure is a short stretch between County Road 13 and County Road 23, just east of Colchester. Please follow the posted detour, and please avoid using local roads to bypass the area. All nearby businesses remain open.

Also, County Road 42 northeast of Comber, in the extreme northeast corner of the County, closed February 17 for bridge work, between County Road 37 and Queen Street South (Kent Road 1). CR 42 will remain closed in this section for approximately nine months – that is, into November. Please use caution and follow the posted detour.
