Gearing up for Election 2026: Dozens Attend Info Session

Prospective candidates learn from expert speakers

Dozens of residents looking for information on running for office in the 2026 municipal election attended, either in person or virtually, a Pre-Election Candidates Information Session held Wednesday night at the County of Essex Administration Building.

The keynote speakers were Spencer Fitzpatrick, Senior Municipal Advisor with the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and consultants Michelle Casavecchia-Somers and Michelle Smibert of Clerks on Call. They also fielded questions from attendees about campaign finances and other campaign rules and regulations.

Outside Council Chambers, following the presentations, local municipalities from across the County set up information tables and handled queries from interested residents.
