Still Time to Pre-register for Pre-Election Municipal Candidates Info Session

Attendance in person, or online via Zoom, is free

It’s not too late to register to attend Wednesday night’s Pre-Election Municipal Candidates Information Session.

The County of Essex is playing host to this three-hour session at its Administration Building, 360 Fairview Avenue West, in Essex. The event begins at 6 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m.

Attendance, either in person or online via Zoom, is free – although advance registration is required due to seating capacity limits.

If you, or someone you know, is thinking about running for a municipal council or school board position in the October 2026 municipal election – in the City of Windsor, Town of Amherstburg, Town of Essex, Town of Kingsville, Municipality of Lakeshore, Town of LaSalle, Municipality of Leamington, Township of Pelee (Pelee Island) or Town of Tecumseh – this event will answer a lot of questions about the rules and procedures for running for office in Ontario.

Presentations will be made by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, which oversees Ontario’s 444 municipalities and municipal elections, and Clerks on Call, a consulting agency staffed with municipal experts with both administrative and political experience.

There will be opportunities for attendees (both in person and online) to ask questions. Those attending in person may also pick up prospective candidate packages from their respective municipalities, which will have information booths set up for the last part of the three-hour event.

Anyone interested in attending – in person, or virtually via Zoom – can register here: https://eforms.countyofessex.ca/Council-Services/2026-Elections-and-Events/2026-Regional-Pre-Election-Candidate-Info-Session
