County Road 22 corridor enhancement

The County of Essex and Municipality of Lakeshore have retained BT Engineering Inc. to redesign County Road 22 from I.C. Roy Drive to West Belle River Road. The new design will incorporate the recommendations of the County Road 22 Environmental Assessment Study (2006) and the Corridor Alternatives and Strategies Study completed in 2022.

Reconstruction of County Road 42

The County of Essex is providing improved reliable infrastructure with the local and regional community in mind. In cooperation with regional municipalities, it is building new roundabouts, and constructing bicycle lanes, sidewalks and multi-use trails along County Roads 42 and County Road 43 in Tecumseh and Lakeshore.

The reconstruction of County Road 42, between County Road 19 and the City of Windsor, is a multi-year project that will increase road capacity and enhance neighbourhood connectivity. Work has begun and completion of the entire project is expected to take five to seven years.

The project includes:

• Widening of County Road 42 from County Road 19 (Manning Road) to the City of Windsor limits to a five-lane roadway with bike lanes, sidewalks and/or multi-use trails.
• Multi-lane roundabouts on County Road 42 at County Road 19 (Manning Road) and the new intersection with County Road 43 (Banwell Road).
• The diversion and widening of County Road 43 (Manning Road) from Shields Avenue to south of County Road 42.

County Road 46 corridor enhancement

The County of Essex, in conjunction with the Municipality of Tecumseh, undertaking an Environmental Assessment study of County Road 46 and adjoining segments of the Concession 8 and Concession 9 roads in Tecumseh. County Road 46 serves as a vital east-west corridor, paralleling Highway 401 from Windsor to Tilbury. The aim of the study is to produce operational enhancement strategies that improve safety, mobility and sustainability along this corridor.
