2026-09-16 Essex County Council Regular Meeting
There will be a meeting of Essex County Council on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, which is scheduled to commence at 6:00 PM. The agenda has been published, and members of the public may view or download the County Council Agenda on the County website.
The meeting will take place in accordance with By-Law 2024-26, being a by-law to provide rules governing the order and proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex, adopted on June 5, 2024.
Essex County Council meetings are open to the public, and limited seating is available within the Council Chambers for visitors. If you wish to attend the County Council meeting, please use the Registration Form to expedite the check-in procedure at the door. On the meeting day, registered visitors will be admitted to the Council Chambers beginning at 5:30 PM. Seats will be held for registered attendees until 5:45 PM after which time, seating will be allocated to walk-in visitors on a first come, first served basis and until capacity in the Council Chambers is reached. One registration per person is allowed. There will be no standing room or overflow seating. Once the capacity limit is reached, no further visitors will be admitted to the Council Chambers until occupied seats are vacated.
Members of the public may also access and view the County Council Meeting proceedings in other ways; by watching on YourTV Cogeco cable television or via the County Livestream (Note that the livestream will only be active once the meeting is started.)

A Closed Meeting has been scheduled for 5:00PM Pursuant to Section 239 (2) (b), and (d) as well as (3.1) of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended for the following reasons:
(b) personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees;
(d) labour relations or employee negotiations;
(3.1) Educational or training sessions
A meeting of a council or local board or of a committee of either of them may be closed to the public if the following conditions are both satisfied:
- The meeting is held for the purpose of educating or training the members.
- At the meeting, no member discusses or otherwise deals with any matter in a way that materially advances the business or decision-making of the council, local board or committee. 2006, c. 32, Sched. A, s. 103 (1).
Council will receive confidential information regarding the Collective Bargaining Process with CUPE 2974.2 (EMS) as well as confidential information regarding non-union staffing updates. Council will further receive training regarding new technology.
