Construction and Road Closures Update – March 13, 2026

Construction and road closure updates for the County of Essex, March 13, 2026:

County Road 42 will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers, between Lesperance Road and County Road 43 (Banwell Road) in Tecumseh – starting Monday morning, March 16 at 7 a.m.

Expect delays until the project is completed, likely in late September 2026. CR 42 will be open to two lanes at night. For more on this phase of the County Road 42 project, check out the project page at our website: https://www.countyofessex.ca/cr42

Much farther east, County Road 42 is closed between County Road 37 and Queen Street South (Kent Road 1) for bridge work, which began February 17 for approximately nine months. Please use caution and follow the posted detour. 

County Road 50 is closed between County Road 23 and County Road 13 for culvert work, which began March 2 for approximately 12 weeks.  Please use caution and follow the posted detour.
