Construction and Road Closures Update – November 6, 2026

All County of Essex construction alerts this week are continuations:

The intersection of County Road 14 and County Road 37 in Leamington is closed, as part of culvert replacement work. Work began October 19 and is expected to continue for seven weeks. Please use caution and follow the posted detour.

County Road 34 in Leamington is closed between County Road 37 and Kent Road 1, for replacement of the South Dales Drain culvert. Work began July 20 and is expected to last 16 weeks, with County Road 34 scheduled to reopen the week of November 16. Please use caution and follow the posted detour.

County Road 8 on the Lakeshore/Leamington border has lane restrictions for road construction from County Road 31 to Hwy 77. Work began November 3.

And the final phase of the County of Essex’s multi-year project to widen and reconstruct the County Road 42 corridor in Tecumseh continues. Work, which began September 14, includes installation of new storm sewers and watermain, plus the addition of new sidewalks, curbs, streetlighting and landscaping – in keeping with enhancements already added to CR 42 from the roundabout at County Road 19 (Manning Road) westward through Lesperance Road, all the way to the roundabout at CR 43 (Banwell). All major construction activity on Phase 5 is scheduled to continue through December 2026, restarting in Spring 2027. Construction is anticipated to be completed by next summer.
