Construction and Road Closures Update – August 21, 2026

This summer’s County Road 42 construction project is nearing completion.

Although CR 42 between Lesperance Road and County Road 43 (Banwell Road) will still experience reductions to one lane, with flag staff, it is due only to centre boulevard work. All four newly widened, newly paved lanes are now completed.

This is all part of Phase 4 of the County of Essex’s years-long County Road 42 improvement project.

By autumn 2027 the entire stretch of CR 42 will be widened to four lanes from Manning Road (County Road 19) westward, through the Town of Tecumseh, to the City of Windsor border. Substantial enhancements in this stretch also will include new sidewalks, curbs, landscaping and boulevard restoration. Work on Phase 4 (Lesperance to Banwell) began on March 16. The last segment of the project, Phase 5, is scheduled to take place next year and will extend these enhancements westward from Banwell (CR 43) to the Windsor border.

Meantime, one new County of Essex road construction project begins next week. County Road 3 in LaSalle will have lane restrictions between County Road 8 and Canard Drive beginning Monday, August 24.

All other County of Essex construction alerts this week are continuations:
