County Road 42 to Close for Watermain Installation

The County Road 42 sign on a red blackground with words advising it will be closed on Oct. 27 between Banwell Road and Lauzon Parkway.

County Road 42 will be closed between County Road 43 (Banwell Road) and Lauzon Parkway beginning at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 for the installation of a new watermain. The road is expected to reopen at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.

Access to all properties will be maintained during the road closure, but County Road 42 will be closed to all through traffic. Motorists are asked to follow the posted detour along Lauzon Parkway, E.C. Row Expressway and County Road 19 (Manning Road).

The watermain work is being coordinated with the final phase of the County Road 42 reconstruction project, which will widen the road from two lanes to four between County Road 43 and the City of Windsor boundary, just east of Lauzon Parkway.

Construction work in this area is expected to continue through the end of this year, with final road and restoration work taking place in spring and summer 2027. Additional lane closures and traffic disruptions are expected during this time.

The County appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure work is completed.

The five-phase, multi-year project to upgrade County Road 42 from Manning Road to the Windsor boundary includes widening the corridor to four lanes and adding improvements including sidewalks, streetlighting and multi-use trails.
