  • Preferred Option Would Widen County Road 22 for All Users

    Widening County Road 22 between East Puce Road and Belle River Road to accommodate a centre turning lane, cyclists and pedestrians is the preferred solution to upgrade the heavily used thoroughfare in Lakeshore, according to a study. “As part of the new vision for County Road 22, the Study is proposing a high quality of urban design along the corridor which may include special boulevard treatments, streetscaping, plantings, signage controls and the provision of street furniture to accommodate the needs of pedestrians, transit users, cyclists, trail users, as well as the automobile,” says.

  • mRNA Vaccines Interchangeable at Clinics Beginning this Week

    The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit opened eligibility for COVID-19 vaccine second doses on June 19. This aligns with provincial direction and expands the eligibility for those who received their first dose of an mRNA vaccine on or before May 9 to book for their second dose of an mRNA vaccine at mass vaccination clinics, pharmacies and primary care providers.

    A vaccination clinic offering first and second doses of the Moderna vaccine is scheduled for June 16 in Kingsville. The clinic is a partnership between Essex-Windsor EMS, the Leamington and Area Family Health Team, and Erie Shores HealthCare.

  • 2021-06-16 Essex County Council Regular Meeting Notice

    There will be a meeting of Essex County Council on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 7:00 PM. As permitted under By-law 2020-16, a By-law to Amend By-law 41-2018, being a by-law to provide rules governing the order and proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex, adopted on March 26, 2020, the meeting will take place remotely, with members of County Council joining via web-conference.

  • CWATS Pilot Project Promotes Safer Cycling

    The County of Essex is launching an active transportation pilot project to enhance safety on County Road 2 in Lakeshore through the use of bollards, curbing and increased signage. The County Wide Active Transportation System pilot project will more clearly separate the active transportation corridor from the roadway, creating protected bike lanes and promoting an improved user experience for cyclists, pedestrians and motorists.
